Camunda, SAP Signavio, ARIS and BOC ADONIS are mature products with years of references. OpsCodex does not try to replace them across the board. This page says where it fits better, and just as useful, where it does not.
What no longer sets anyone apart.
An AI draft from existing documents, plain-language answers, running in your own data centre with a model of your choice and an interface for AI agents are now offered by established suites as well, ARIS and BOC ADONIS among them. These are good reasons to choose a tool, but they no longer tell the tools apart. Three questions do: how reliable the draft is, how firmly sign-off holds, and what then reaches the people doing the work.
The combination that matters.
Every element with its source
Every element of the draft carries its passage in the document, one click shows it, and program code checks the quote against the text. Whatever the AI assumes without a source becomes an open question. While it is open, approval stays locked.
Separation that holds
Every serious tool has approval workflows. In OpsCodex, author, reviewer and approver are different people, and that is enforced. An exception takes an administrator and a written justification, and lands with its own status in a log the database protects against changes.
The day after sign-off
Work instructions are derived from the same approved version of the BPMN. The concierge answers only from approved processes, also as a browser extension right next to your ERP or MES.
Built for your hardware
OpsCodex runs on-premise as an instance of its own, and every AI step works with an open-weight model on your own hardware. For OpsCodex that is the basic form, not an upgrade tier.
One process, not a programme.
Introducing Signavio or ARIS is usually a programme of its own. OpsCodex needs Docker Compose or a namespace on your Kubernetes platform, the documents you already have and named reviewers. That is a real advantage for the first process under governance, and a real limit if you need the breadth of an enterprise-architecture suite.

Camunda’s strength is executing and orchestrating BPMN at scale. OpsCodex governs what a process is and exports standard BPMN XML that engines such as Camunda read. The two complement each other.
When you are deep in SAP

When the frame is enterprise architecture
ARIS covers architecture, risk and compliance frameworks and large federated organisations. If that is the frame, a focused tool has the wrong shape.
When you want an established BPM suite
Process portal, approval workflows, an AI assistant and running in-house, in a suite with a long history. If you want a suite’s breadth and can live with its introduction effort, you are in good hands there.
When you want to know what really happens
OpsCodex does no process mining. If your question is what your processes actually look like in the event log, that is a different product category.

OpsCodex fits best when many SOPs and slide decks need consolidating, approvals must hold up in an audit, process data may not go into a public cloud, BPMN is the exchange format, and you do not want a suite rollout to get there.
